The Hoff House is on historical register and was occupied by the union troops during the Civil War. The original home was constructed in 1853. The Hoff family lived in the home until the early 1980's then it was purchased by J. Bernard Mitchell, Sr. At that time the house was refurbished and it served as a home for the Mitchell family. In 2003, the home was partially destroyed by a historic tornado and the Mitchell family decided to totally rebuild the home keeping original elements where they could (chimney stone, fireplace mantel, original staircase, original beams salvaged and used throughout the house.) All new wood flooring was used with the exception of the original hardwood flooring used in the upstairs blue room and apartment bedroom and bath. The house was reframed and resided with all new electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Since 2007, The Hoff House has been a second home to the Mitchell family and served as a vacation rental as well, serving families from all parts of the United States. The Hoff House, most recently has been listed on VRBO.com and remains there currently. It has maintained a 5 star ratings. The home rents January - December. Peak Season is May - September.
